what's fundaframe?
fundaframe is a new way for independent film projects to get off the ground.
it allows filmmakers to 'pitch' their 'picture to the people', by giving them a platform on which they can present their project to their audience, and invite members of the public to help them realise their vision by funding individual frames in the film that is yet to be made.
visitors to this site - you! - can help turn these dreams into reality by funding one, a few, several or many frames in films that are now ready go into production. in return for your help you will receive benefits specified by the filmmakers, such as a credit on the fiilm and website, a free download or DVD of the film when it's finished, an invite to the premiere party or even a day on set with the cast, crew and director.
the cost of a frame is set by the filmmakers and virtually all the money collected by fundaframe goes towards the making of their film, with fundaframe taking just a small commission to maintain and develop this site. and when we say small, we mean small: fundaframe is created by filmmakers for filmmakers and its purpose is to get excellent new independent films made, not to make anybody rich.
framefunding is a new concept in film funding, but it's already been tested: the first ever short to be funded through fundaframe was the study of bunkers & mounds in a temperate climate (relatively speaking) by sebastian michael. it was "highly commended" at the TCM classic shorts competition and got screened in the official selection of the locarno international film festival, one of the most prestigious festivals on the circuit. so: fundaframe works. (you can watch the trailers or preview and download this film here.) subsequent to that, fundaframe helped jamie hewitt make his first short the ash can, which is currently in post-production.
you should be able to find out more or less everything there is to know about fundaframe from these pages. but if you have any questions, don't ever hesitate to drop us a line. or, if you're really curious why not just fund a frame now? our current project is also our first full-length feature, the hour of living by sebastian michael, and you can fund a frame in it for less than the price of pint. got to be worth a try.
